Qualifications

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering.
• 3–5+ years' relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Proven experience in commercial and industrial Solar PV.
• Strong understanding of LV/MV electrical systems and distribution.
• Experience with SSEG/grid-connection applications and hybrid systems (BESS).
• Experience producing SLDs and detailed electrical design documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer commercial/industrial Solar PV, BESS, and hybrid systems.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies and technical evaluations.
• Develop system sizing from load profiles and site data.
• Create SLDs, PV layouts, inverter layouts and cable management designs.
• Perform cable sizing and equipment selection.
• Develop BOMs/BOQs and technical cost inputs.
• Support tender submissions and technical costing.
• Coordinate with suppliers and project teams during execution.
• Provide technical input during installation, testing and commissioning.
• Review designs for quality and compliance.

Our client is a fast-growing renewable energy company specialising incommercial and industrial (C&I) solar PV, battery energy storage and hybrid energy solutions.

They are looking for an experienced and technically drivenProject / Design Electrical Engineerto join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys combining detailed electrical design with project execution, client interaction and problem-solving.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for taking commercial solar projects frominitial concept and feasibility through detailed design, procurement support, construction and commissioning.

You will work closely with clients, project managers, contractors, suppliers and internal engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer commercial and industrial Solar PV, BESS and hybrid energy systems.
• Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies and technical evaluations.
• Develop system sizing from electricity bills, load profiles and site information.
• Produce detailedSingle Line Diagrams (SLDs), PV layouts, string designs, inverter layouts, earthing designs and cable management layouts.
• Perform cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations and equipment selection.
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs), BOQs and technical cost inputs.
• Perform PV yield modelling and system optimisation.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings, calculations and project documentation.
• Assist with Eskom and municipalSSEG/grid-connection applications.
• Support tender submissions, proposals and technical costing.
• Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors and project teams during project execution.
• Provide technical support during installation, testing and commissioning.
• Review designs, drawings and documentation for quality and compliance.
• Participate in client meetings and technical presentations.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling and risk management.
• Conduct inspections and support commissioning and handover.
• Compile as-built drawings, commissioning documentation and technical reports.
• Provide technical input into operations, maintenance and after-sales support.

Desired Experience & Qualification

• BEng / BSc / BTech inElectrical Engineering.
• 3–5+ years' relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Proven experience incommercial and industrial Solar PV.
• Strong understanding of LV/MV electrical systems and distribution.
• Experience with Solar PV and preferablyBESS/hybrid systems.
• Experience producing SLDs and detailed electrical design documentation.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Package & Remuneration

R600 000 CTC to R780 000 CTC per annum based on experience and qualifications
