Qualifications

About the Role

A prominent Independent Power Producer (IPP) in Southern Africa, is seeking a Project Controller to support the planning, execution, and financial control of large-scale renewable energy projects. Reporting to the Head of Project Execution, this pivotal role ensures projects remain on track, within budget, and aligned with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Coordination & Reporting

Manage project documentation, travel logistics, and reporting timelines

Ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards

Liaise with project teams, suppliers, and regulatory authorities

Maintain risk registers and lessons learned documentation

Support project reviews and executive reporting presentations

Project Planning & Scheduling

Monitor project schedules and flag potential risks

Ensure alignment with key milestones and portfolio integration

Cost Control & Budget Management

Support the development of project budgets and forecasts

Monitor costs and assist with financial reporting and savings analysis

Risk & Performance Monitoring

Develop KPIs and real-time dashboards to track project health

Identify risks and contribute to proactive mitigation strategies

Bachelor’s in Engineering, Project Management, Finance, or similar

3–7 years’ project control experience (preferably in energy, infrastructure, or construction)

Familiarity with solar, wind, BESS, or hydro projects is a strong advantage

Proficient in Primavera P6 , MS Project , SAP , Excel , and Power BI

Solid understanding of financial planning, scheduling, and contract frameworks (FIDIC, NEC advantageous)

PMP, PRINCE2, or AACE / CCP certification (preferred)

Excellent communication, multitasking, and stakeholder coordination skills
