Overview

Woolpert is seeking a Project Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team at our Johannesburg office. This role reports to the Project Financial Support Group Manager and is responsible for reviewing and approving project setups, ensuring contracts, project plans, work breakdown structures, and resource allocations are in place. Candidates should be proficient with accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve project setups, contracts, project plans, work breakdown structures, and resource allocations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely billings.
  • Review contract invoicing and pricing terms, and enter billing details into the Management Information System (MIS).
  • Coordinate with clients' accounting representatives regarding invoicing requirements.
  • Maintain contact with client and subconsultant representatives during the billing process.
  • Correct misapplied time and expenses within the MIS, documenting transfers for audit purposes.
  • Assist project managers with billing and collections monitoring.
  • Handle billing voids and write-offs with appropriate approvals.
  • Maintain project invoice, contract, and subconsultant files.
  • Assist with lien waivers, release of claims, and project close-out procedures.
  • Review and monitor subconsultant contracts, invoicing, and insurance documents.
  • Support review of Woolpert PSA contracts, external client contracts, and change orders.
  • Manage collection issues, maintain AR ledger comments, and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Update unbilled reports and contract status reports monthly.
  • Ensure compliance with CSP process and participate in quality assurance initiatives.

Qualifications

  • BCom Accounting or related degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work US hours (14:00 - 23:00).
  • Proficiency with accounting systems, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and internet research.
  • Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, handle self-directed tasks, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Willingness to work overtime and travel occasionally.
