SUMMARY:

Our client, a leader in the automotive industry, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their team based in Durban.

Minimum Requirements

• B Com degree or equivalent diploma; and/or
• 3-5 years’ experience in a production accounting environment, specifically with the responsibilities listed below.
• Thorough understanding of profitability, costing, and budgeting.
• Good computer skills, especially with MS Office (Excel) and D365.
• Good interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with people.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Main Job Functions

• Sales price maintenance – Ensure pricing is always at the correct levels and adhere to increase/decrease submissions based on Forex, raw materials, and economic adjustments.
• Standard cost maintenance – Ensure BOMs are accurate for newly launched products. Review costing and judgment of price levels for various input costs.
• Compile project budgets – Understand profit and loss statements, cash flows, and budgeting to ensure projects are profitable and financed correctly.
• Customer RFQ submissions – Complete internal costing for RFQs received from customers and translate into customer formats.
• Profitability studies – Conduct ongoing studies on products to identify costing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Project accounting – Ensure the project ledger is up to date and reconciled monthly with amortization tables.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls.
• Interaction with plants to resolve queries.
