Position Summary
The Program Manager of Rise Up and Match Engagement provides strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of two key BBBSLI initiatives: the Rise Up program and the Community-Based Match Engagement program. This position supervises the Rise Up Career Specialist and the Match Engagement Specialist, ensuring impactful program implementation, meaningful youth engagement, and strategic collaboration with community partners. The Manager plays a central role in the execution of events and serves as a visible, on-site leader, actively engaging vendors, families, volunteers, and staff to ensure successful outcomes. This role is pivotal to creating enriching experiences for people and fostering meaningful connections across our network.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Program Oversight
- Supervise and support the Rise Up Career Specialist and Match Engagement Specialist through performance coaching, planning support, and ongoing check-ins.
- Ensure program objectives are met, and services are consistently delivered at a high standard.
- Be physically present at agency events and youth activities to ensure implementation aligns with strategic goals and reflects the agency’s mission.
- Provide program coverage and continuity during staff absences.
Program Innovation & Strategic Development
- Guide and enhance career readiness workshops, job readiness activities, and community match events with an eye toward quality, relevance, and inclusivity.
- Support the development of curricula and materials aligned with youth goals in education, employment, and positive social development.
- Analyze participation trends and program feedback to continuously improve service delivery.
Vendor, Partner, and Stakeholder Engagement
- Represent BBBSLI as the face of the Rise Up and Match Engagement programs at community meetings, vendor events, and networking opportunities.
- Engage with vendors, sponsors, and presenters before, during, and after events to ensure clear communication, strong partnerships, and smooth event execution.
- Cultivate strategic relationships with schools, businesses, and community-based organizations to expand program reach and deepen impact.
Rise Up Program Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of academic and career planning services for high school-aged youth through the Rise Up program.
- Collaborate with the Career Specialist to ensure consistent programming, including college readiness, test prep, and post-secondary planning.
- Support coordination of field trips, internships, and hands-on career exploration opportunities.
Match Engagement Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in the planning, promotion, and execution of engaging, mission-aligned match activities for Bigs, Littles, and families.
- Collaborate with the Match Engagement Specialist on monthly activity lists, marketing materials, and ticket distribution.
- Help secure venues, coordinate logistics, and communicate with participants to maximize event success and attendance.
Event Support & Operational Readiness
- Assist in setting up, organizing, and preparing all supplies, materials, and logistics for both Match Engagement and Rise Up events.
- Maintain an active presence before, during, and after events to manage logistics, support staff and volunteers, and troubleshoot issues.
- Take full responsibility for event setup and execution in the absence of the assigned program staff, ensuring events proceed smoothly and professionally.
- Ensure proper clean-up, follow-up reporting, and documentation (e.g., attendance sheets, surveys, recap summaries) are completed post-event.
Internal Collaboration & Communications
- Work closely with the Development and Marketing teams to highlight programming stories, promote upcoming events, and support agency-wide initiatives.
- Attend internal staff meetings, planning sessions, and training to align efforts across departments and strengthen organizational goals.
Requirements:
Qualifications/Requirements
- Master’s degree required; preference given to fields such as human services, education, youth development, or public administration.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in youth programming, nonprofit program management, or event coordination.
- Supervisory experience required, with the ability to manage staff and oversee multiple programs simultaneously.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable leading public presentations and community engagement efforts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning internal databases and design platforms (e.g., Canva, InDesign).
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand, sit, lift up to 35 pounds, and perform event setup and breakdown duties. Travel across Nassau and Suffolk Counties is required. Evening and as needed weekend hours are part of this role.
NOTE: This position is HYBRID REMOTE. Typically 3 days remote, 2 days in office or as business needs dictate. Typical Hours as follows but may change with business needs:
- Mon- 9 AM - 5 PM Remote
- Tues- 9 AM - 5 PM Remote
- Wednesday - 12:30 - 8:30
- Thursday - 12:30 - 8:30
- Friday - 9 AM - 5 PM Remote
- Saturday - Varies as necessary 9 AM - 5 PM. *(Monday off if Saturday is worked) Typically 2-3x per month
