The unitalentza website was launched out of necessity. It is a direct off-shoot of Academic Partners, the pre-eminent talent accessing and assessing service company within the South African Higher Education sector. Job Description
  • Duties:
  • Collaborating with a dedicated team to design transformative leadership learning experiences for MBA and postgraduate diploma students.
  • Facilitating leadership development and/or organisational behaviour related courses using student-centred teaching approaches.
  • Delivering teaching and assessment responsibilities, and managing a portfolio of external lecturers.
  • Conducting individual leadership development discussions with students.
  • Conducting research in leadership, organisational behaviour, or related areas of human behaviour.
  • Supervising postgraduate research at master’s and PhD levels.
  • Publishing and disseminating research through well-recognised publications and conferences.
  • Participating in public scholarship.
  • Actively engaging and participating in the University’s activities and School life.
Inherent Criteria

Requirements:

  • A relevant PhD awarded by a recognised university (e.g., leadership development / psychology / industrial psychology / organisational behaviour / human resource management, or related field).
  • A track record of teaching in leadership development and/or organisational behaviour, demonstrated through sound knowledge of the subject areas or teaching assessments.
  • A track record of educational leadership (e.g., through programme development and academic leadership, management of a portfolio of external lecturers, etc.).
  • Experience in leadership development activities and examples of relevant professional practice (e.g., consulting or workplace experience).
  • Relevant publications in respected journals and at conferences.
  • Successfully completed postgraduate supervision of both master’s and doctoral students.
  • Evidence of involvement in social impact initiatives and/or community engagement projects.
  • Proficient academic communication skills in English.

For appointment as a Professor:

  • Senior experience and engagement with public or private organisations, consulting activities, and/or policy that demonstrate management, leadership, expertise and/or thought leadership.
  • Evidence of academic leadership such as significant research in a focused or niche research area in the broader area of leadership development and/or organisational behaviour, or related areas.
  • International and national conference participation.
  • Strong evidence of successfully completed PhD and master's degree supervision.
  • Evidence of international and/or national recognition as a researcher

Recommendations:

  • For appointment as an Associate Professor:
  • Experience in innovative teaching formats.
  • Professional registration at a relevant body.
  • Coaching and other relevant registrations or accreditations
  • For appointment as a Professor:
  • Research and teaching awards from reputable organisations.
  • International experience or networks in the field of “leadership”.
  • Prior work with, or exposure to, the workings of a business school of international repute.
