Job summary

Joint Medical Holdings Ltd. in Durban is seeking a Professional Nurse - Scrub Nurse to support theatre services. The role requires scrub nurse experience in theatre, SANC registration, and the ability to supervise staff and handle medications while maintaining high safety standards.

The ideal candidate will be computer literate (MS Word & Excel), prepared to work additional hours, and committed to complying with hospital policies and regulations.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with SANC as a Registered Nurse with valid APC.
• Preferably have two or more years of experience as a Scrub Nurse in Theatre.
• Preferably be Theatre trained or qualified.
• Must be prepared to work additional hours.
• Must be computer literate – MS Word & Excel.

Responsibilities

• Practice within your scope as a Registered Nurse in the theatre.
• Supervise staff in theatre.
• Handle drugs and scheduling in line with legal requirements.
• Maintain theatre equipment and motivate staff.
• Teach staff in the unit.
• Ensure Theatre is always running at the highest standards.
• Comply with SANC and stakeholder legislation.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREA

• Must be able to practice within your scope of practice as a Registered Nurse.
• Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures and protocols.
• Must be competent with the Hospitals Policies and Regulations.
• Ability to supervise staff in theatre.
• Must have experience in handling drugs and scheduling is a legal requirement.
• Equipment maintenance and motivations.
• Ability to teach staff in the unit.
• To ensure that Theatre is always running at the highest standards.
• Comply with SANC and stakeholder legislation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Must be registered with SANC as a Registered Nurse with valid APC.
• Good interpersonal skills with doctors, patients and colleagues are essential.
• Preferably have two or more years of experience as a Scrub Nurse in Theatre.
• Preferably be Theatre trained or qualified.
• Must be prepared to work additional hours.
• Must be computer literate – MS Word & Excel.
