The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for Mechanical works on the project, demonstrating teamwork, organization, and project scope definition skills.

Role Description

This is a full-time, office-based Mechanical Engineering role located in Johannesburg.

The Professional Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for tasks such as utilizing analytical skills, communication, mechanical engineering knowledge, computer-aided design (CAD), and project management.

Responsibilities

• Fundamental understanding of HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, Loadest, I.E.S) and manual air psychrometric analysis.
• Knowledge of air, fluid, heat transfer, thermodynamics, etc.
• Assist in design based on client requirements and specifications.
• Interest and proficiency in HVAC modeling software and BIM (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.).
• Participate in all project stages from inception to close-out, including tender documentation and management.
• Assist in the formulation of Bills of Quantities (BOQ's), equipment specifications, and quality control.
• Site supervision and construction monitoring.
• Troubleshooting existing installations.
• Assist in cost control related to mechanical HVAC.
• Project scoping and scope monitoring.

Skills and Qualifications

• BEng or BTech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Registered with ECSA or have applied for registration.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical projects within consulting or industry.
• Interest in HVAC design and construction monitoring for commercial, industrial, healthcare, residential, and pharmaceutical projects.

Salary: R30,000 to R35,000 net. The contract is for 2 years with an option to become permanent.
