A construction management firm in South Africa is seeking a qualified engineer to lead road construction and maintenance projects. The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of engineering experience, ECSA registration, and show expertise in project management and financial oversight. This role offers a flexible remuneration package with additional benefits.
Minimum Requirements
Engineering Degree (B Eng / BSC (Eng)) or relevant qualification; a minimum of 3 years post-qualification engineering experience; compulsory registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer; a valid code B driving licence.
Recommendation
Extensive relevant experience and working knowledge of: road-built environment; management of road construction and maintenance projects; road planning, design, and financial management; project management; construction equipment and effective implementation; supply chain and procurement processes; environmental legislation; occupational health and safety regulations.
Key Performance Areas
Provide comments and recommendations on development applications affecting the proclaimed road network; develop mechanisms and procedures to counteract illegal activities affecting the road network; identify road safety problems and develop remedial measures; coordinate and manage in-house road construction, reseal, regravel, and specialized routine maintenance activities at the regional and district levels; develop procedures to improve productivity and quality of in-house projects; manage acceptance and quality control procedures; compile design standards and specifications; prepare tender documentation and technical specifications for road construction and maintenance services; undertake additional duties in support of the District Road Engineer.
Competencies
Knowledge of land use planning, economics, relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and acts; road design and construction; project management; strategic leadership; professional judgment; networking. Skills include financial management, written and verbal communication, analytical skills, computer-aided engineering applications, research, technical report writing, and problem-solving.
Remuneration
Grade A: R - R per annum;
Grade B: R - R 1 per annum;
Grade C: R 1 - R 1 per annum (salary based on post-registration experience as per OSD prescript).
Note: remuneration packages for certain occupation-specific dispensations, middle-management service, and contract positions include all costs related to service benefits, including basic salary, medical assistance, housing, pension contributions, etc. Packages are flexible and can be individually structured. If not indicated as CTE, employee benefits are funded or co-funded as per applicable agreements.
Notes
