- Responsible for the Engineering and Design of renewable energy projects
- Provision of technical and management expertise and involvement throughout the project lifecycle, from inception, through feasibility into construction and commissioning;
- Producing tender drawings
- Compilation of BOQs and preparation of tender documents and project specifications
- Tender evaluation and identification of tender opportunities
- Play a key role in project management and will be responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control of projects from inception to completion
- Management of technicians, project engineers, master electricians, project managers and contractors.
- Work with Energy Efficiency initiatives such as power factor correction, photo voltaic cells, variable speed drives, luminaires, time of use tariff, demand management, energy recovery, etc.
- Observing health and safety guidelines
- Management and maintenance of Client relationships and coordination of project execution within scope, timeframe, safety, cost and to the Client's satisfaction;
- Participation in engineering activities and interdisciplinary interfaces in close cooperation with the other discipline Engineers;
- Contributing to the development of the organisational Quality Management System
- Ensuring that all work is undertaken in accordance with the Quality Management System.
Qualifications
- National Diploma / BTech / BEng / BSc in Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 7)
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer (PR.Eng)
- Completed or in the process of completing a postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
- Qualification in Project Management would be advantageous
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) Certification would be advantageous
Technical Skills
- Have 5+ years’ experience working in the renewable energies, process, and utilities industries, including project experience
- Have 5+ years’ experience with commissioning of renewable energy projects
- Your sound knowledge of Health and Safety, compliance and inspections to authorize COC’s, as well as ensuring work at height permits and other requirements are met.
- A natural, self-motivated and astute ability to self-manage and take responsibility for the company’s technical performance is essential.
- Manage Subcontractor installation teams is an advantage.
- Understanding of Inverter systems and commissioning of such systems an advantage.
- Understanding of Municipal embedded generation bylaws and standards an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in Plant Electrical Reticulation, Electrical Protection Systems, MV, and Switching equipment
- Demonstrate experience in Earthing and Bonding best practices
- Power Simulation software skills
