A leading electronic manufacturing company in Pretoria East seeks a Production Support Engineer to manage PCB orders and ensure accurate bill of materials. The ideal candidate will have a Diploma, B-Tech, or B-Eng in Electronic Engineering and 3-5 years of experience, with strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills. Together with our client, an electronic manufacturing company in Pretoria East, we are recruiting for a Production Support Engineer to ensure all bill of materials are reviewed and loaded accurately on the system, and to ensure that PCBs are ordered from the appropriate factories.
The role also involves verifying that solder paste stencils used for manufacturing are correct and available.
Ideal Candidate : 3 - 5 years of work experience in a production environment and a National Diploma, B-Tech, and / or B-Eng in Electronic Engineering.
Duties and Responsibilities Administrative and General Backup all computer work on the network.
Maintain good housekeeping practices for a controlled, efficient, and pleasant working environment.
Monitor safety hazards in the work environment and equipment design.
PCB Quotations and Ordering Generate BOMs according to Omnigo standards within prescribed timeframes.
Select suitable PCB suppliers based on complexity, technology, import / export restrictions, and client requests.
Verify and supplement client data to obtain quotes.
Determine stencil requirements and generate associated costs.
Discuss special requirements with suppliers.
Order PCBs and engineer stencils promptly.
Verify PCB panels, optimize for processes, and request panel paste files as needed.
Sign off PCB invoices for payment.
Support and Advisory Investigate new panel designs to optimize production.
Discuss unusual devices with SMT and suggest process improvements.
Assist QA in verifying PCB versions and quality issues.
Review in-house developed PCBs for manufacturability.
Extract information from Gerber data for other departments.
Check stencils for damage before release.
Compile technical reports on PCB designs and issues.
Provide technical feedback and advise on stock levels.
Support production equipment programming and BOM creation.
Supplier and Management Maintain good relations with suppliers and understand their capabilities.
Liaise with suppliers on technical issues and decide on replacements or credits.
Ensure timely checking of stencils and prioritize urgent projects.
Liaise with SMT and production to improve stencil and panel designs.
Establish a system for storing PCB-related data.
Skills and Competencies Strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and organizational skills.
Minimum Qualifications Diploma, B-Tech, or B-Eng in Electronic Engineering and 3-5 years of production experience.
Knowledge of IPC Standards.
Salary : Market related, depending on experience.
