Production Supervisor
An exciting opportunity for a Production Supervisor has become available at one of our clients in New Germany, KZN.
The ideal candidate for this role will be passionate, a self-starter, and attentive to detail.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Performance Outputs Planning
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager regarding current projections versus actual sales
- Review and adjust the monthly Planning Schedule & Weekly Plans
- Conduct weekly Production Meetings at the Conversion stage and Daily Production meetings for Extrusion, identifying and implementing optimal programs to meet planned requirements
- Analyze market demand versus stock levels (Finished, WIP, Raw, Packaging), identify potential shortfalls, and recommend remedial actions
- Review plant availability, including condition, planned maintenance, and scheduling
- Ensure all production inputs and resources are in place (Staff, machines, materials, dies, weighing scales)
- Monitor plant performance, safety, health standards, quality, and adherence to best practices
- Identify deviations from standards, determine causes, and initiate corrective actions
- Maintain effective communication with Control Room & Operators to discover and address gaps
- Monitor material batches, address nonconformances, and identify potential hazards
- Ensure physical security of negotiable items (products, etc.)
- Oversee process changes based on operating conditions, manual interventions, and document such changes
- Produce reports related to daily/weekly production, maintenance, and safety
- Input production data into the system (BOM) and produce necessary statutory records
- Ensure the availability of required documentation
Leadership & Team Management
- Select and appoint team members
- Enable team delivery capacity through training, communication, and performance standards
- Create a performance-enabling environment via working conditions, feedback, support, recognition, and fostering teamwork
- Identify and resolve workplace conflicts proactively
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Production Management or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, with at least 3 years managing a team
- Knowledge of the Hardware or Retail sector is advantageous
- Familiarity with IQ Retail System is advantageous
