Production Supervisor
My client, in the manufacturing industry, is looking to employ a Production Supervisor for their branch in Kempton Park.
The ideal candidate will manage the conversion of raw materials into finished goods efficiently and cost-effectively, adhering to internationally benchmarked standards and practices.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Liaising with the factory manager regarding customer demand.
- Planning and scheduling production in line with the pacer plan and any changes in customer demand.
- Communicating planning schedules effectively with team leaders and team members.
- Ensuring short interval controls are performed at the correct times to meet production targets and maintain inventory levels.
- Monitoring production progress and discussing achievement with team leaders daily.
- Identifying production problems and discussing solutions with team leaders and key team members.
- Monitoring production output daily and implementing actions to improve performance.
- Developing medium to long-term actions to improve production performance and reduce variability.
- Ensuring quality standards are maintained and employees are trained accordingly.
- Motivating employees to improve product quality and reviewing corrective actions to eliminate deficiencies.
- Reducing quality defects by 50% annually and maintaining reject rates at final inspection below 3%.
- Discussing major maintenance requirements with the Factory Manager and ensuring routine maintenance is conducted.
- Stopping the use of any equipment that endangers employee safety.
- Measuring performance against reports and developing action plans to reduce costs.
- Coordinating efforts to improve departmental performance and managing staff motivation and performance.
- Conducting daily meetings to discuss issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
Desired Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum: Matric
- Ideal: Diploma in Production Management
Skills and Experience
- At least 4 years' experience in a supervisory role.
- Excellent motivational and management skills.
- A passion for staff development.
