About Your Role

The incumbent is responsible for overseeing all reporting staff while ensuring adherence to operational, health and safety, and quality standards, along with continuous improvement initiatives.

The role includes providing leadership to Slitting Operators, Material Handlers, Operations Clerks, Dispatch Operations, and Assistant Operators to enhance technical excellence and process improvement.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  1. Operational Functions: Dispatch
    • Ensure daily delivery targets are met.
    • Ensure correct labeling and packaging of finished products.
    • Adhere to proper handling procedures for deliveries, including quality checks, documentation, and system updates.
    • Follow Transport Management System protocols.
    • Reconcile deliveries daily and manage customer claims and collections per Salesforce procedures.
  2. Stock Control
    • Manage consumables and raw materials, including consumption, return, and storage.
    • Monitor and control master roll and slit stock with monthly cycle counts and investigate inventory deviations.
  3. Productivity
    • Meet daily production targets.
    • Maximize slitter utilization and optimize manpower deployment.
    • Identify opportunities to increase productivity, including automation systems.
  4. Quality Assurance
    • Maintain product quality standards and address discrepancies.
    • Coordinate with the Dispatch Supervisor for final product quality.
    • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and product concerns.
  5. Continuous Improvement & EHS
    • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Reduce manufacturing operational expenses.
    • Maintain a zero-tolerance policy on PPE compliance and safety policies.
    • Report and address near misses, unsafe acts, and behaviors, with ongoing safety improvements.

Candidate Requirements

Knowledge of operations procedures, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel essential), experience with warehouse inventory systems (e.g., MFGPro, Nautilus, Manhattan, SAP), excellent communication skills, proactive thinking, reliability, report writing, numerical skills, and staff development awareness.

Qualifications include Grade 12 and 3-5 years in manufacturing, with at least 3 years in a supervisory leadership role. Knowledge of ELS and continuous improvement initiatives is advantageous.
