Job description

VACANCY : Shift Supervisor A fast paced, FSA accredited, successful family run, wholesale bakery serving the needs of the retail, food service and hospitality industry as well as regional and national distributors in South Africa. We specialise in a range of artisan breads, rolls and buns, brioche, croissants and Danish pastries, doughnuts as well as a range of small confectionery products. Our unique range of thaw and serve, parbaked and convenience products aim to make operations simple for the end user whilst still delivering a high quality, consistent product. Our vision is to be a recognized supplier of premium bakery products in South Africa and the first-choice partner in our sector by 2028 Duties and Responsibilities : 1. Production Planning & Efficiency o Monitor and optimize production flow, efficiency, and volume. o Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions. o Maintain target production and packing rates using SIC systems. o Support continuous improvement initiatives. 2. Equipment & Plant Utilization o Ensure effective use and maintenance of machinery and facilities. o Guide staff on proper machine usage. o Meet Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) standards. 3. Quality Assurance o Collaborate with QC and QA teams to integrate quality standards in production. 4. Food Safety & Hygiene o Enforce GMP, 5S practices, and hygiene standards. o Monitor CCPs and ensure FSA policy compliance. 5. Cost & Material Control o Promote cost-efficiency and reduce material wastage across the production chain. 6. Staff Supervision & Development o Foster a positive, engaged workforce. o Ensure clarity of production standards and encourage accountability. o Recognize achievements and drive performance. 7. Administration & Reporting o Complete and ensure accuracy of all production-related documentation for performance tracking and continuous improvement. Minimum Requirements : - A degree or Diploma in Production / Operations Management - 3 - 5 years’ experience as Shift Supervisor / Manager within the FMCG industry. - Experience Microsoft Office - Experience in ERP systems would be an advance - Shift work is compulsory Remuneration Package : Market Related.
