Job description

A high-performance, dynamic, driven, and growing manufacturing company operating in South Africa and internationally is seeking a high-potential Production Shift Manager. The ideal candidate thrives under pressure and demonstrates the ability to grow quickly. We are ISO 9001 and 22716 certified, part of an international group of manufacturing facilities, upholding high standards of manufacturing excellence. The successful candidate will possess the necessary skills and experience to maintain these standards while driving continuous improvement goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. People management: Oversee general workers, operators, team leaders, and supervisors. Manage performance, attendance, skills development, and foster a target-driven culture with continuous feedback and alignment to targets.
  2. Production performance: Ensure manufacturing KPIs, SHEQ requirements, OEE improvements, Kaizen initiatives, and business objectives are achieved.
  3. Cost control: Monitor and manage production costs including line man hours, downtime, wastage, and rework.
  4. Performance reporting: Present and explain production KPIs daily and weekly.
  5. Manufacturing excellence: Contribute to the company's journey towards manufacturing excellence within a global environment.
  6. Continuous improvement: Lead efficiency projects and drive process enhancements.
  7. Skills development: Implement and manage staff training programs.
  8. Equipment management: Oversee equipment performance, settings, and housekeeping.
  9. Staff culture: Maintain and improve staff culture and engagement.
  10. SOP adherence: Ensure SOPs are followed and understood within ISO 9001, 22716, and 14001 frameworks.
  11. HR/IR management: Handle HR and IR issues within the team.
  12. Housekeeping: Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  13. Shift work: Be flexible to work shifts, including bi-weekly night shifts.
  14. Equipment oversight: Supervise automatic and semi-automatic filling, packing, and processing equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
  1. Relevant tertiary qualification (Operations/Technical/Management).
  2. Experience with Syspro/RiteScan or similar ERP/WMS systems (advantageous).
  3. At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in FMCG sector.
  4. Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
  5. Proven leadership, managerial, and HR skills.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Strong work ethic, initiative, and attention to detail.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; presentation skills are advantageous.
  9. Ability to translate strategies into actions and execute effectively.
  10. Focus on sustainability and talent development.
  11. Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  12. Ability to work across departments and levels.
  13. Results and deadline-oriented.
  14. Valid driver’s license and own transport.
  15. Willingness to work shifts as scheduled.
REMUNERATION

Market-related. A recent payslip will be requested upon application.
