About the Role

Our client, a prominent manufacturing company, is seeking a skilled Production Planning Manager to join their team in Cape Town, Western Cape . This role is responsible for optimizing production schedules, ensuring efficient resource allocation, and meeting delivery targets. You will work closely with production, supply chain, and sales teams to forecast demand, plan production output, and manage inventory levels. The ideal candidate has a strong analytical background, excellent organizational skills, and experience in production planning within a manufacturing environment. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for flexibility while remaining integral to the operations based in Cape Town .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage detailed production plans and schedules to meet demand and capacity constraints.
• Collaborate with sales and marketing to forecast product demand accurately.
• Optimize resource allocation, including labor, machinery, and materials, for maximum efficiency.
• Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address any deviations or disruptions.
• Manage raw material and finished goods inventory levels to minimize holding costs while ensuring availability.
• Work with the procurement team to ensure timely supply of necessary materials.
• Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
• Ensure adherence to quality standards and safety regulations in all planning activities.
• Communicate production plans and status updates effectively to relevant stakeholders.
• Contribute to strategic planning for production capacity and future growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in production planning or scheduling within a manufacturing setting.
• Proven experience in demand forecasting and inventory management.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows.
• Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP APO, Oracle ASCP) and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience working in a hybrid model, balancing office-based tasks with remote work.
• Familiarity with Lean principles is a plus.
