Role Overview
The Production Scheduler will create and release achievable production schedules based on demand, capacity, and material availability. They will monitor performance against plans and support and lead improvement initiatives. The role involves anticipating potential issues, presenting options clearly and concisely, and continually improving systems to enhance schedule management, communication, and adherence.
Responsibilities
- Manage MRP process to convert demand into supply orders.
- Prepare daily and weekly production schedules for assigned areas by machine.
- Sequence work orders based on key capacity constraints in each work center.
- Manage work orders within the firm and release time fences.
- Ensure timely release of work orders to the shop floor for on-time build and delivery.
- Reschedule uncompleted work orders daily.
- Generate work orders for assigned products.
- Prepare weekly and monthly capacity plans by work center.
- Create weekly metric charts to meet delivery performance targets.
- Review Syspro reports and coordinate with customer service to meet customer expectations.
- Communicate potential supply issues affecting customer commitments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant experience considered.
- APICS certification or affiliation is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in supply planning, scheduling, or fulfillment, preferably in consumer product manufacturing.
- Proficiency in MS Office; SYSPRO experience preferred.
- Intermediate skills in Access/Excel for data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter with excellent communication skills.
- Proactive communication with internal and external partners.
- Ability to maintain composure under stress and manage multiple tasks.
- Commitment to safety standards and continuous process improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, punctuality, and adherence to instructions.
Additional Responsibilities
- Report production status and issues to upper management.
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate production activities to ensure schedule attainment.
- Manage materials effectively.
