Job description

Our Client, a leader in the automotive manufacturing industry, is seeking an experienced Production Planner to join their team based in Durban.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Grade 12 School Leaving Certificate.
  • National Diploma or Degree in production planning, operations, or production management.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.

MAIN JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Plan, schedule, and monitor production against MPS for all levels of production, including component level (stock levels, minimal requirements, plan changeovers, etc.).
  2. Measure performance and adjust plans to accommodate breakdowns and other issues.
  3. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on adherence to plans.
  4. Develop and implement capacity planning systems for all plant areas.
  5. Schedule and plan maintenance and repairs for manufacturing operations.
  6. Arrange changeovers according to the Production Plan (sequence, jig changes, etc.).
  7. Monitor and plan backorders to meet customer requirements.
  8. Convert sales forecasts into production plans.
  9. Create jobs based on production plans.
  10. Monitor inventory levels to maintain minimal stock levels.
  11. Manage and maintain minimal WIP levels.
  12. Optimize production processes.
  13. Maintain manufacturing and production efficiencies.
  14. Ensure the optimal and efficient use of resources.
  15. Balance production resources.
  16. Monitor daily production targets.
  17. Analyze variances daily and identify improvement opportunities.
  18. Investigate and resolve manufacturing problems and sub-standard performance.
  19. Schedule new parts and pre-production trials for new product introductions.
  20. Monitor production material levels to ensure sufficiency.
  21. Participate in monthly stock takes and control processes.
  22. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
