A food manufacturer based in Cape Town is seeking a Production Planner to coordinate production operations, manage inventory, and ensure cost-effective, quality-driven output. This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a knack for planning under pressure.

Key Responsibilities include:

Production Scheduling & Forecasting
  • Develop and adjust production schedules based on demand, inventory levels, and resource availability
  • Forecast material and capacity requirements to ensure on-time production
Inventory & Stock Management
  • Maintain optimal stock levels of packaging and finished goods
  • Prevent overstocking and avoid shortages through proactive planning
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Work closely with procurement, manufacturing, and logistics to align planning and execution
  • Communicate daily with teams to ensure smooth operational flow
Monitoring & Reporting
  • Track production performance, including output metrics, timelines, and defects
  • Prepare regular reports and dashboards for management
Process Optimisation
  • Identify and implement improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste
  • Support quality assurance by aligning planning with safety and compliance standards
Minimum Requirements:
  • Proven experience in a production planning or similar role
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain flow
  • Proficiency in MS Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data formatting)
  • Experience with MRP systems is an advantage
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • A tertiary qualification in Production Planning, Supply Chain, or a related field is preferred
