Overview
The Production Operator position is responsible for blending the prescribed raw materials required to provide a consistent quality, following the manufacturing instructions, manufacturing order and procedures established by the company without deviation . Ensure that all products are produced safely, efficiently and meet all quality standards as set forth by the company is also responsible for Environmental, Safety, and Health compliance.
Responsibilities
- Daily organization of production line.
- Follow up use of correct labels.
- Accurately weigh and measure ingredients, clean, load, operate, and unload mixers, tanks, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Operation of the production installations in accordance with the instructions.
- Lifting and moving up to 40kg of bags and drums of raw materials.
- Packing product into 25 kg and/or 400kg bags.
- Production of products in accordance with the mixing instructions.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience in chemical Batch processing is a plus.
Must have Matric with Maths and Science or equivalent.
Chemical qualification and a forklift license are added advantages.
Essential Skills & Experiences
- Control of use of correct raw materials, quantities, lot numbers and administration.
- Performing daily operations, mixing, blending, and other manufacturing activities to ensure production schedules are met in accordance with instructions and adhering to company policies and regulations.
- Daily housekeeping.
- Wearing required PPE (Full face mask, Safety shoes, Overall, gloves and safety glasses).
- Responsible for quality, quantity, and waste of products at all working stations.
- Operating scales, pumps, and material handling equipment for the pre-weigh of raw materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Follow Safety process with mixer tank and blenders and use them in a safe and approved manner.
- The ability to follow directions and written processes and procedures.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and be able to work with fractions and decimals.
- Certified to operate forklifts.
- Ability to read and interpret digital scales.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to use SCADA and HMI technology.
- Must have strong verbal communication skills.
Language Skills
- Must have strong verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to effectively speak in front of large groups.
Mathematical Skills
- Must be good with the figures/calculations (numerical literacy)
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to identify bottlenecks and equipment inefficiencies.
Physical Demands
- Lifting and moving up to 50kg of raw materials.
- Packing product into bags, bulk bags, and buckets.
- Using stairs for most of the day when required
- Unafraid of heights
