About the Role

Our client, a key player in the Oil & Gas sector, is looking for an experienced and results-driven Production Operations Manager to oversee their upstream operations based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This senior management position is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable production of hydrocarbons. The successful candidate will lead a team of operations engineers, technicians, and field staff, ensuring operational targets are met while adhering to the highest standards of safety and environmental compliance. You will be instrumental in optimizing production processes, managing operational budgets, and implementing best practices across all production facilities. We seek a strong leader with extensive experience in upstream oil and gas operations and a proven ability to manage complex operations. This role requires hands-on leadership and a commitment to operational excellence in the challenging Durban operational environment. You will be the driving force behind maximizing asset performance and ensuring the long-term success of the company's production activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and direct all aspects of upstream oil and gas production operations in the Durban region.
• Ensure production targets are met safely, efficiently, and within budget, adhering to all regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize production rates and minimize downtime.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the operations team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the maintenance and integrity of production facilities and equipment.

• Implement and enforce robust Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• An MBA or advanced degree is advantageous.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in upstream Oil & Gas production operations, with at least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated expertise in production optimization, artificial lift systems, and process management.
• Strong understanding of HSE regulations and best practices in the Oil & Gas industry.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide diverse teams.
• Excellent financial acumen and experience managing operational budgets.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic planning abilities.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Must be willing to work full-time and be based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
