Job summary

Tiger Brands, a leader in the FMCG sector, is looking for a Manufacturing Operations Manager to oversee the production process in their flour mill. THE JOB AT A GLANCE:

Responsible for managing all aspects of a moderately complex manufacturing operation in an 8.50 tph flour mill. Accountable for delivering results that meet quality, customer service, safety, innovation, and cost criteria. Develops and approves short- and long-term operating objectives in areas such as cost reduction, quality improvement, new product development, and plant integration.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE:

Asset Management

  • Achieve overall production parameters.
  • Ensure continuous equipment availability.
  • Minimize downtime due to equipment breakdowns.
  • Reduce milling and engineering costs.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain stock levels of finished products, consumables, vitamins, and additives.
  • Eliminate manufacturing losses.

Financial Management

  • Drive continuous improvement.
  • Aim for zero write-offs.
  • Achieve targeted production efficiencies.

Adherence To Company Policies And Procedures

  • Contribute to company value and stakeholder benefits in the long term.
  • Ensure health, safety, risk, and environmental compliance.
  • Achieve targeted audit scores.

Quality Assurance

  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Maintain consistent finished product quality and reduce customer complaints.

Training, Staff Leadership, and Teamwork

  • Improve plant availability and production efficiency.
  • Reduce product deviations.
  • Maintain high staff morale.

Operational

  • Achieve manufacturing efficiencies within quality specifications.
  • Operate mills at design capacity with downtime less than 1.0% of total milling hours.

What You Will Be Measured On

  • Safety – zero Lost Time Injuries (LTIs)
  • Product quality – customer complaints
  • Yield and waste reduction in flaking plant and packing lines
  • Continuous improvement in Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Cost containment and reduction

Qualifications

  • Experience: approximately 5 years in a similar function
  • Availability to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
  • Qualified wheat and/or maize miller (preferred), SAGMA/GMF Trade Tested
  • Knowledge of fumigation and grain insect management
  • Industry: Wheat Milling
