A well-established manufacturing company specializing in precision production processes is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee operations, ensuring efficiency across three powder lines and four liquid lines while maintaining high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in production management, excellent leadership abilities, and the expertise to drive operational improvements and team performance.
Minimum Requirements:
Own vehicle and valid License
Grade 12 (Matric) plus a relevant 3-year degree/diploma
Minimum 5 years’ experience in production management
Experience in the chemical industry is highly advantageous
Experienced in powder and liquid lines
Strong people management skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities
Strong numeracy and computer literacy skills
Ability to identify problems and implement preventative strategies
Proven experience in workflow optimization, cost control, and efficiency improvements
Ability to work cross-functionally with procurement, dispatch, and quality control teams
Commitment to safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement
Occasional weekend work may be required during peak seasons
Duties and Responsibilities:
Production Planning & Operations: Develop and manage production schedules to ensure daily targets are met Oversee three powder lines and four liquid lines, ensuring efficiency and minimal downtime Incorporate sales forecasts (MRP) into production planning to meet demand Partner with procurement to ensure adequate raw material availability Work with dispatch to ensure timely and accurate stock preparation for local and export markets
Quality & Compliance: Ensure all products meet high-quality standards and comply with industry regulations Conduct quality inspections and resolve any out-of-specification product issues Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards Schedule preventative maintenance for production equipment to minimize downtime
Team Leadership & Management: Oversee daily scheduling and productivity of production staff Set clear performance goals and provide ongoing training and motivation Develop strong team communication and problem-solving strategies
Process Optimization & Cost Control: Continuously monitor workflow efficiency and suggest improvements Identify and implement cost-saving measures while maintaining production standards Maintain accurate production records, metrics, and reports
