Responsibilities

What we’re looking for:

We're looking for a Production Manager to join the team. The main purpose of the role is to manage and control daily and weekly demand requirements within the manufacturing environment on a shift basis in such a way that it drives cost, quality, and efficiency.

The jobholder makes decisions that influence daily & weekly production performance and productivity and balances several variables to the required service level of sales. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for the following:

1. The management of quality product through continual monitoring of the line performance through the optimization of quality vs. cost relationship.
2. Effective utilisation of labour hours to maximise product yields and minimise breakage and waste.
3. Ensure that adequate staffing is available to execute operational plans and that manning levels are at specification.
4. Ensure that development and training needs of FLEs and direct reports are fulfilled.
5. Ensure that discipline is maintained through the effective use of the disciplinary code and adherence to the PepsiCo Code of Conduct.
6. Maximise quality cases produced per hour.
7. Accurately compile and analyse daily production line reports in a timely manner.
8. Evaluate and categorize all downtime occurring during a shift.
9. Prepare a weekly performance report and feedback performance-related issues to the site leadership team.
10. Analyze the weekly direct cost variance report and reconcile previous production week performance to standard.
11. Check and ensure that all housekeeping, food safety and occupational safety standards are adhered to.
12. Improve plant audit performance and work environment.
13. Direct supervisory staff (FLMs) in identifying and correcting any unsafe conditions.
14. Identify opportunities to improve production processes and/or operating methods.
15. Improve on all quality weak link targets in AOP.

Qualifications

What will qualify you for the role

1. Tertiary qualification in Production Management or equivalent.
2. Knowledge of quality assurance standards and systems.
3. Computer literate (Access and MS Office).
4. Knowledge of safety regulations.
5. Sound Employee relations knowledge.
6. Successfully works with others in a Management role: Quality, Facilities, Engineering, Raw Materials Stores Distribution.
7. Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing environment of which at least 3 years at managerial level.
