Production Manager (Automotive)
The Production Manager will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Operations Manager with production planning and operator supervision to ensure on-time deliveries of modified vehicles to customers without delays or defects.
- Using Smooth Flow principles to expedite labor and material flow, meeting production schedules through planning, monitoring work progress, managing inventory, and addressing production issues with continuous improvement initiatives.
Functional Responsibilities
Production Planning and Organizing:
- Developing and implementing production plans and schedules to meet targets and deliver customer orders on time and defect-free.
- Creating, monitoring, and managing all production documentation such as Job Cards, Work Instructions, and Quality Documentation.
- Coordinating with supply chain, purchasing, and finance departments to optimize processes and ensure smooth workflow, including labor and inventory management.
- Setting daily objectives and communicating them to operators to maximize labor efficiency.
- Organizing workflow by assigning responsibilities, preparing schedules, and monitoring progress.
- Assisting the Operations Manager in coordinating production plans to minimize downtime and maximize output.
- Gathering information from the sales department regarding order intake and future commitments to meet customer requirements and deadlines.
Producing Monthly/Weekly reports and forecasts based on sales orders.
- Ensuring efficient materials management.
Production Staff Supervision:
- Supervising and managing production activities.
- Providing guidance, training, and feedback to ensure the team meets goals.
- Developing a competent team, facilitating training, and monitoring individual performance.
- Fostering a positive work environment.
- Motivating and leading the team to achieve performance targets.
- Providing ongoing training and updating skills matrices for upskilling and multi-skilling operators.
- Communicating goals, expectations, and updates effectively to the team and management.
Other responsibilities include implementing ISO standards, ensuring safety protocols, identifying process improvements, investigating production issues, and ensuring compliance with industry and quality standards.
Safety & Housekeeping:
- Implementing 5S practices and ensuring smooth flow activities.
Education/Certification:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Production Management, Production Planning, or Operations Management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- 3-5 years of manufacturing and planning experience.
- Strong teamwork, computer skills (intermediate to advanced Excel), process orientation, and organizational skills.
Behavioral Attributes:

- Ability to work under pressure, proactive, responsible, and ownership-driven.
Desirable:
- Automotive industry experience.
