Overview

An established and reputable farming enterprise in the Patensie area is seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Production Manager to oversee and manage the technical functions of their citrus and greenhouse production operations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring optimal crop performance, quality control, and compliance with agricultural standards.

Minimum Requirements

• A tertiary qualification in Agriculture or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar technical farming role

• Excellent computer literacy

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and monitor pest control programs

• Design and manage planting programs for optimal yield

• Monitor the quality and progress of greenhouse planting activities

• Implement and oversee cultivar trials and ensure product quality

• Manage procurement and application of fertilizers and pest control products

• Supervise and develop technical staff

• Manage compliance with farming audits such as Global GAP, Farming for the Future, DAFF, and SIZA Environmental

• Develop, implement, and train staff on standard operating procedures (SOPs)

• Draft and train on job descriptions

• Ensure the application of disciplinary procedures when necessary

Work hours

Monday - Friday: 07:00 - 17:00 and weekends on a rotation basis.
