Our client based in Germiston is seeking a Production Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate would be responsible for planning and scheduling all production activities across all plants by optimizing available resources. The role involves utilizing provided software systems to ensure adherence to plans, making adjustments as necessary, and overseeing the execution of production schedules considering constraints such as product sequence, efficiency, warehouse space, customer orders, and input from the Unit Manager and Sales Force.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Lead and train the production staff to meet competency requirements for optimal performance.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and working procedures.
- Prepare raw materials in accordance with production schedules and ensure their availability.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in MAPEI software and update stock levels appropriately.
- Book production confirmations accurately on D365 for semi-finished and finished goods.
- Supervise all production operations according to corporate and local procedures, coordinating with the Quality Control department to verify product quality.
- Ensure precise data recording for accurate inventory figures and reliable production KPIs.
- Analyze inventory discrepancies and production KPIs to minimize inefficiencies and costs, proposing improvements proactively.
- Maintain equipment in good condition, oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensure safety and quality risks are managed.
- Investigate non-conformances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in feasibility studies, planning, and evaluation of industrial tests.
- Ensure correct formula and packaging versions are used and communicated timely.
- Assist in managing obsolete raw materials and packaging to reduce waste.
- Oversee stock management of finished products, ensuring proper turnover and compliance with release procedures.
- Supervise resource performance, verify staff competencies, and motivate continuous growth.
- Manage headcount adequacy, participate in hiring, and monitor KPIs such as absenteeism.
- Handle conflicts within the team and with other departments, taking disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Participate in physical inventory processes, monitor discrepancies, and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Plan and oversee personnel safety and plant protection activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and proper PPE use.
- Implement local and corporate policies, procedures, and safety rules to maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Requirements:
Skills and Competencies:
- Tertiary qualification in Operations Management or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in production/manufacturing, with at least 3 years at a management level.
