Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage all production staff to ensure efficiency and meet production demands.
- Hold weekly meetings with injection molding machine setters for problem solving and information sharing.
- Promote quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization.
- Set production objectives and ensure targets are achieved, including managing absenteeism and cycle time standards.
- Maintain awareness of the business context and company profitability, including budget control.
- Ensure products are manufactured timely and meet customer quality and delivery requirements.
- Manage setting of all injection molding machines and ancillary equipment.
- Schedule production to optimize equipment use.
- Ensure raw materials are ordered timely.
- Verify that production work instructions, such as flow charts, setting sheets, inspection instructions, job cards, packaging, and transport details, are adequate and followed.
- Maintain good housekeeping throughout the facility.
- Conduct formal reviews at least annually to verify compliance with procedures and work instructions.
- Review customer releases and develop production plans as needed.
- Identify process, tooling, and equipment improvements.
- Identify training needs of personnel and conduct or facilitate training.
- Assist the Stores Controller when necessary, e.g., material staging, stocktaking.
- Have full control in the absence of the General Manager.
- Analyze performance data and charts against set parameters.
- Ensure tests and procedures are understood, performed, evaluated, and that product modifications meet requirements.
- Assist with ISO 9001:2015 audits and internal audit plans.
- Ensure business actions and processes add value.
- Review nonconforming products with the quality department and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate staff from different disciplines to develop and implement quality procedures.
- Encourage staff to adopt quality methods and maintain KPIs.
- Monitor performance through data collection and statistical reporting.
- Comply with management policies and departmental procedures.
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing Technology, or Business Administration.
- Honours Degree (NQF 8) is advantageous.
- Proficiency in MS Office, preferably with database experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- Code 08 Driver's license.
- Experience in injection molding machine setting and optimization.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience in plastics manufacturing environment.
