Job summary

AJ Personnel is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor/Manager in Gauteng to lead and coordinate manufacturing operations, driving productivity and compliance.

The role requires strong leadership, a technical/operational background, refrigeration exposure is a plus, and proficient MS Office skills.

You will work with senior management, plan resources, monitor KPIs, ensure on-time delivery, and coach a team toward continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Supervisory or management experience is essential.
• Refrigeration experience would be beneficial.
• Strong MS Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with peers across departments to achieve shared goals.
• Coordinate with other managers and report to senior management.
• Track productivity and performance indicators.
• Ensure on-time order fulfilment and accurate scheduling.
• Monitor quality, standards, and cost efficiency in production.
• Plan and order materials, maintain stock levels.
• Coordinate training, health and safety compliance, ISO standards.
• Oversee recruitment, discipline, and employee relations.

Job description

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric or relevant tertiary qualification
• Refrigeration experience would be beneficial
• Previous experience in a supervisory or management role is essential, project management or project coordination experience will be a benefit
• Previous exposure to a production environment would be advantageous
• Strong technical/operational background (any CO2 experience would be optimal)
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office applications

Responsibilities:

• Work across functions with peers in other departments to ensure collaboration for shared goals
• Engage and co-ordinate with other Managers across the Company
• Interact with senior management for reporting
• Report back to senior management on productivity and other performance indicators
• Order fulfilment: On-time completion, estimate to completion, identify and investigate, drop in performance etc.
• Delivery in full on time rate: Adjustments to schedule, planned vs actual, resource capacity
• Rework rate - number of errors, change requests
• Identify of root cause and implement corrective and preventive measures
• Monitor and measure compliance of standards
• Monitor and review manufacturing operations and processes to ensure quality standards are maintained
• Ensure all production processes are cost effective and efficient
• Communicate goals and key performance indicators and provide guidance to direct reports
• Ensure that direct reports understand their roles and responsibilities
• Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are allocated and delegated
• Communicate changes from senior leaders
• Monitor employee absences, and address and resolve patterns and abuse
• Counselling, disciplinary action, grievances, and conflict resolution

• Ensure all equipment and machines are maintained and serviced to specification
• Plan and order material in accordance with production requirements
• Ensure adequate stock levels
• Ensure that processes and procedures are developed and effectively implemented to
• Help the department meet its operational and strategic goals
• Identify gaps in processes and implementing improvement measures
• Ensure acceptable quality standards for all processes and procedures from all team members
• Identify knowledge gaps and arrange training
• Guide the talent identification and development processes for a group or function
• Provide ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring
• Orientation and training of new employees
• Promote and maintain awareness and compliance of health and safety in accordance with Company policy
• Ensure that ISO requirements are met and maintained and that company and clients’ quality standards are complied with
• Finished goods are checked and found to be correct, complete, and compliant prior to handover to following department
• Rectification and/or repair of non-conforming product as a priority, and that relevant departments are informed of delays and revised schedules
• Non-conformance paperwork is raised, actioned, and processed
