Overview

Lexdan Select is assisting a plastic manufacturing company in their search for a Production Manager. This role requires a candidate with extensive experience in plastic injection moulding. This role is based in Ottery, Cape Town.

Your Role & Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand, coordinate with other departments, and allocate resources (personnel, equipment, materials) to maximize efficiency.
  • Oversee workflows, address bottlenecks, conduct root cause analyses, and implement improvements to optimize productivity and reduce costs.
  • Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste, ensure quality standards are upheld, and address quality issues promptly.
  • Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols, while promoting a culture of workplace safety.
  • Lead, train, motivate, and guide subordinates, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Set objectives, monitor performance, conduct reviews, counsel underperformers, and recognize contributions to encourage ongoing improvement.
  • Clearly communicate goals, expectations, and consequences of misconduct; manage discipline and counselling within company policies and procedures.
  • Stay informed of international standards and industry trends, liaise with suppliers, and drive continuous improvement to keep the company at the forefront of technology.
Requirements
  • Higher National Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical.
  • NQF 6 Production Management / Operations Management (will be advantageous).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Production Manager role in the manufacturing industry – market.
  • In-depth and hands-on experience in, and exposure to injection moulding processes, tools and ancillary equipment.
  • Exposure to training at IM machine suppliers.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of plastic manufacturing, especially Injection Moulding process.
  • Insight into Injection moulds, Injection moulding machines and related equipment for processing.
