Production Machine Shop Manager

Main purpose of Job : Overall management of Machine Shop and resources to ensure that production plans are met to support the overall business objectives (sales order book).

Required professional experience: 10 years plus production management experience and relevant qualifications. Technical product knowledge, customer relationship, and leadership skills.

Required Education: Matric / Relevant trade / Operations Management / Industrial Engineering. Experience 10 years + Post school qualifications: Relevant trade. Turning & Milling is highly advantageous. QMS Experience (Rex / IRIS / ISO). CNC programming knowledge a must (Siemens / Fanuc Controls / Akuma). SAP Production Planning modules. Industrial Engineering. Good understanding, reading, and interpreting of drawings.

Primary Responsibilities (KPAs) and Job Role Description:

1. Planning and organising production schedule and plan to ensure optimum machine utilization.
2. Overseeing the production process.
3. Determining quality control standards.
4. Liaison with buyers and sales staff.
5. Assessing project and resource requirements.
6. Estimating and negotiating time scales with internal clients and managers.
7. Re-negotiating time scales or schedules as necessary.
8. Organising the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment.
9. Supervising the work of junior staff.
10. Mentoring of apprentices and interns.
11. Controlling budgets and costs relating to tooling and machine maintenance.
12. Adhering to production and scrap rate targets.
13. Educate the staff on 5 S and ensure that all staff members are trained and Fleximatrix updated.
14. Ensure that monthly sales targets are met through production schedules.

Management of Surface Treatment Plant Accountabilities:

1. Meeting budgets.
2. KPIs, scrap performance, and growth of staff members.
