Job description

Job Purpose

To provide input and assisting in the management in Aluminium recycling/production process, compiling, and submitting daily production reports, supervising, direct, and identify issues that occur on the job and SHEQ issues to create a safer and healthier workplace.

Key Performance

  • Research, analyze, review, and recommend improvements to an AMR’s production processes in order to improve overall organization performance.
  • Train and provide guidance to all staff and resolve all product change issues.
  • Perform Trials and gather data for new and existing clients.
  • Assist the Data clerk in data capturing and generating of delivery notes, sows’ labels and other related duties.
  • Support the other Shift Foremen as required
  • Ensure flux requirements are accurately calculated and issued
  • Create and maintain accurate records relating to the furnace activities during a shift
  • Ensure effective pulsing and cleaning of bag houses and ensure regular lime dosing of baghouse is carried out

SHEQ

  • Organize all work and ensure compliance to all AMR’s safety, environmental and quality regulations and standards and perform appropriate duties for same
  • Actively participate in shift meetings and training sessions
  • Ensure good housekeeping practices are followed within the work area
  • Apply best practice standards in all areas of HS&E, quality procedures and Standard operating procedures
  • Ensure that checks are carried out on operation of equipment and report any variances to management
  • Check, prepare and analyze Metallurgical samples
  • Assist in carrying out monthly inventories.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12
  • Great interpersonal, communication, reading and writing skills.
  • Proactive and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as work in a team.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and previous chemicals or hazardous material handling.
  • Must have experience and/or qualification in metallurgy
  • Must have time management skills be reliable and trustworthy.
  • Be of sober habits.
  • Forklift License will be an advantage
  • Own Transport will be an advantage
  • Must pass a medical fitness examination
