Job description

Description

We are looking for a talented Production Associate* to join our team specializing in *Manufacturing for Cummins in Gauteng, South Africa.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Operate machines and production equipment independently and safely, meeting quality and productivity standards in a manufacturing environment.
  • Assemble and overhaul components such as eliminators, oil filter heads, intercoolers, top stacks, and cylinder head assemblies using jigs and sub-assembly processes.
  • Ensure timely delivery of quality products to the assembly line within the standard required time (SRT).
  • Follow standard work procedures and quality practices, including SPC, poka-yoke, and visual standards, while identifying and addressing non-conforming materials.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately during the component assembly process.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and operator care standards, including regular housekeeping and equipment maintenance tasks.
  • Support the training and development of apprentices in the component area by providing guidance and instruction.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and support functions, communicating issues and working together to achieve production targets and maintain equipment performance.

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Basic technical skills or experience in dismantling and assembly processes; comfortable working with hand tools.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate toward shared goals.
  • Clear and effective communicator, able to adapt communication style to suit different audiences and situations.
  • Demonstrates courage and accountability by addressing challenges directly and constructively in the workplace.

Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.
  • Requires significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.

The compensation for this role is aligned with a local bargained or unionized agreement.
