Job summary

Profile Personnel seeks a Product Technician for an on-site role in the Eastern Cape within a dynamic automotive manufacturing environment. You will provide hands-on support for electrical faults and drive defect containment and recovery to minimise downtime.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience in automotive electrical systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to coach and train team members in electrical fitment and fault detection.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in automotive electrical systems or manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering, mechatronics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to coach and train team members effectively.
  • Knowledge of routing and process improvement techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate hands-on support for electrical faults and stoppages in production.
  • Diagnose and rectify harness issues, control unit faults, and connection problems.
  • Contain and recover defects to minimise downtime, rework, and quality impacts.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on recurring electrical defects and drive problem-solving initiatives.
  • Implement corrective actions to reduce repeat failures and enhance defect recovery rates.
  • Identify weaknesses in assembly processes related to vehicle electrics and propose improvements.
  • Improve work sequences, part handling, fitment methods, and error-proofing measures.
  • Monitor End-of-Line and audit findings to improve electrical quality flow-out.
  • Coach and train production personnel on electrical fitment and fault detection.
  • Support new model launches and engineering changes from a buildability perspective.
  • Coordinate action plans with Production, Planning, and Quality departments.

  • Support new model launches, model year updates, and engineering changes from a buildability perspective.
  • Coordinate action plans with Production, Planning, Quality, and other relevant departments.
Requirements:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in automotive electrical systems or manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering, mechatronics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to coach and train team members effectively.
  • Knowledge of routing and process improvement techniques.
Familiarity with the following:
  • Automotive industry standards and quality protocols.
