Product Stewardship and Technical Consultant

About the Role: The Mining Solutions Product Stewardship and Technical Consultant position is a key role that provides customer-facing technical and safety support for strategic Mining Solutions customer accounts. Their work is crucial in integrating the Business's functional capabilities to execute specific projects and customer support activities, enhancing its ability to provide safe transportation, use, storage, and handling of sodium cyanide.

Responsibilities:

  1. Safety, Product Stewardship, and Training: Conduct safety assessments for new and existing customers to ensure compliance with safe storage, use, and disposal requirements. This responsibility includes First-Order Procedure (FOP) assessments and periodic reviews, with findings documented in the customer database. Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for customers, carriers, distributors, regulators, emergency responders, medical personnel, and other stakeholders, including cyanide awareness sessions. Conduct periodic product safety audits of carriers and distributors and recommend improvements. Provide product safety and technical information through e-learning platforms and on-site sessions, covering special safety procedures and emergency response protocols. Perform other product stewardship activities as required by the Business.
  2. Customer Engagement and Technical Consultation: Serve as the primary technical lead to support sales across assigned regions, providing design, installation assistance, and technical consultation for new cyanide handling infrastructure investments. Act as a conduit between Mining Solutions and strategic customer accounts, developing new technical offerings for the precious metals mining industry. Advise customers, carriers, and supply chain operations on adhering to the International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC). Lead or assist in investigating customer complaints and incidents, implementing preventive and corrective actions as identified.
  3. Emergency Preparedness and Response: Develop and maintain country- and region-specific emergency response plans to ensure preparedness for potential product-related emergencies. Provide direct support during regional product-related emergencies outside the manufacturing site(s).
  4. Regulatory Compliance and Product Stewardship: Understand global Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS) and Product Stewardship requirements; champion and implement programs to address them. Develop and maintain an in-depth understanding of regulatory and environmental climates in the region as they pertain to cyanide usage, precious metals mining, metal plating, and specialty chemicals. Continually update and revise cyanide literature to keep it current and relevant. Engage with industry advisory groups and regulatory agencies on cyanide-related topics as needed.
  5. Project Implementation: Implement Mining Solutions terminal expansion and improvement projects to enhance operational capabilities. Lead and execute projects that improve the Business's ability to deliver a seamless, safe customer experience, including packaging development, additive implementation, product tracking technologies, and remote inventory management. Site support for New Technologies implementation projects, such as Glycine Leaching Technologies.

Our Requirements:

  1. Education: Engineering, Metallurgy, or mining-related degree.
  2. Knowledge: Knowledgeable in safe product use, storage, and handling of hazardous materials. Knowledge, Training, and Certification to provide Emergency Response assistance to customers and carriers. Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications.
  3. Work Experience: Minimum 3-10 years of work experience producing, handling, and transporting highly toxic chemicals. Site ATO or comparable plant experience. Customer and package applications experience. Experienced in training others.
  4. Other Qualifications: Strong mechanical aptitude. Demonstrated skills to complete work independently and through influence. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently, including the ability to manage numerous follow-up actions and deadlines with customers. Ability to interact effectively with and manage the interface with the Mining Solutions business, customers, engineering firms, industry safety networks, carriers, and drivers.
