Location : Selby (Johannesburg)

Salary : R 20 000 to R25 000 - Market Related (Negotiable depending on experience + company benefits + commission after target reached)

A wholesaler and retailer of automotive replacement parts is currently looking to employ a Product / Business Development Sales Specialist at their branch in Selby, with immediate start preferred.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing automotive aftermarket product lines, overseeing the entire product lifecycle from development to retirement. Candidates should have a deep understanding of the automotive aftermarket industry, excellent market analysis skills, and the ability to drive product strategies aligned with company goals.

Requirements

  • Must come from the automotive, commercial, mining, farming, or industrial industries.
  • Experience in selling filters, lubricants, and batteries to these industries.
  • Matric qualification.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field is preferred, but exceptional candidates without a formal degree will also be considered.
  • Proven track record as a Product Manager in the automotive aftermarket industry, with at least 5 years of experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive aftermarket products, brands, and industry dynamics.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within and outside South Africa.
  • Own transport is required.

Duties include, but are not limited to :

  • Product Development: Lead the identification, development, and launch of new products within the automotive aftermarket, from concept to market introduction.
  • Product Portfolio Management: Manage the entire product portfolio, analyze performance, identify expansion opportunities, and make recommendations for product updates or retirement. Cross-match common parts across markets for inventory optimization and economies of scale.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct detailed market research to understand customer needs, industry trends, and competitors. Use insights to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Sales Forecasting: Collaborate with the sales team to develop sales forecasts for assigned products.
  • Product Strategy: Develop and implement strategies and roadmaps that align with company goals, ensuring competitiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with sales, marketing, and management teams to ensure successful product development, launch, and marketing campaigns.
  • Product Launch: Create and execute go-to-market plans, including pricing, marketing, and distribution strategies.
  • Product Communication: Maintain product documentation, specifications, and training materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements, working closely with suppliers.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor product performance, sales data, and customer feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Cost Management: Oversee product costs to maintain profitability and market competitiveness.
  • Warranty Management: Handle product warranties and customer claims in line with company and supplier policies.
