Job description

ABOUT US

HyperionDev is one of the largest providers of accelerated online education in EMEA and one of the oldest providers of 'coding bootcamps' in the world. We work with top universities such as Imperial College London, University of Chicago, UCT and Stellenbosch University to deliver structured technical and digital courses and bootcamps that accelerate people into fulfilling careers. We have been recognised as one of the top education technology scaleups in the world and have gained the financial backing of Meta (previously Facebook), which recognised us as the most socially impactful startup operating in Africa, where we initially started our work.

We are dedicated to closing the global digital skills gap by integrating online education with human mentorship and expert code review, powered by a workforce in Southern Africa, to lower the cost of accessible technology education. This model has been successful, allowing us to reach millions of learners a year from over 60 countries.

Our ecosystem also includes HyperDev, a developer-focused spin-out building AI tools that help people turn ideas into working software while retaining control over their code. HyperDev extends our mission beyond education, supporting how developers build, learn and grow throughout their careers.

We're backed by nearly 2000 investors and have raised the largest crowdfunding round for an edtech company in history. As a primarily bootstrapped, profitable, and scale-up tech business, join us as we play our part in making the world a more stable, safer, and fair place.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're looking for a Product Manager with strong customer research, stakeholder management and project delivery skills to support how HyperionDev's courses are positioned and brought to market.

You'll develop a detailed understanding of our courses, prospective students and competitors, translating that knowledge into clear product information, positioning and actionable briefs. You'll coordinate the people, processes and approvals needed to deliver course launches, marketing projects and updates accurately and on time.

Working closely with marketing, creative, admissions and university partners, you'll bring structure to competing priorities and ensure everyone has the information they need to deliver. Your focus will be on customer insight, planning, coordination and quality, working with creative specialists who produce the copy and design.

This role sits within our marketing function and focuses on our course portfolio and go-to-market delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Customer & Market Research: Build audience personas and gather qualitative customer insights, market research and competitor intelligence to inform positioning and marketing activity.
  • Product Positioning: Develop clear course propositions, USPs and differentiators that reflect prospective students' needs and support sales and marketing teams.
  • Project Planning & Delivery: Coordinate course launches and marketing projects, maintaining clear briefs, timelines, responsibilities and dependencies from planning through completion.
  • Stakeholder & Partner Management: Align internal teams and university partners on requirements, deliverables and approvals, resolving blockers and keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Product Information & Documentation: Maintain accurate course information, positioning documents and partner requirements so teams work from consistent, up-to‑date guidance.
  • Marketing Operations & Approvals: Coordinate workflows and internal and external approvals to keep marketing activity moving efficiently and in line with brand and partner requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Review marketing materials for factual accuracy, consistency and adherence to agreed product messaging before publication.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement: Bring together customer feedback and marketing results to identify improvements to messaging, processes and project delivery.

Minimum

  • At least 3 years' experience in product marketing, brand management, marketing operations or a comparable role involving customer research and cross-functional delivery.
  • At least 1 year's project management experience coordinating marketing projects, launches or product updates across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting qualitative customer or market research and translating findings into practical recommendations.
  • Experience developing product positioning, messaging or clear customer propositions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage briefs, timelines, dependencies and approvals across concurrent projects.
  • Experience maintaining documentation and reviewing customer-facing information for accuracy and consistency.
  • A sound understanding of digital marketing channels and the customer journey from initial interest to purchase.
  • Strong written communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
  • A diploma in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Preferred

  • At least 4 years' relevant experience in a high-growth consumer-facing business.
  • At least 2 years' project management experience delivering projects across multiple markets or external partners.
  • Experience in education or edtech, particularly marketing courses or working with university partners.
  • Experience coordinating go-to-market plans and product launches.
  • Experience managing partner approval processes, external agencies or suppliers.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Asana, Basecamp or Trello.
  • Experience using customer feedback and marketing performance data to inform decisions.
  • A degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related discipline.
BENEFITS
  • Flexible & remote working: We are a remote-friendly organisation and offer flexible work options.
  • Generous annual leave and medical benefits: We provide up to 19 annual leave days as part of our leave policy, as well as health insurance or medical aid benefits for our staff.
  • Join the heart of tech in Africa, the US, and Europe: You'll work with the best of the best and rub shoulders with the world leaders in edtech, developer education, and developer assessments. Join one of the most ambitious and highest-performing tech companies in the space, with a founding team that draws their former experience from companies such as Google, Amazon, GetSmarter/2U, & Yoco.
  • Life-changing work: Solve real problems that make education and tech careers accessible to those who need it most: you're allowed to brag about it.
