REQUIREMENTS
- Matric is essential.
- B-Tech or National diploma in electrical / mechanical engineering or similar qualification relevant to products and applications required to sell.
- Valid driver's license and own transport.
- Willing to travel and possess a valid passport.
- Technical knowledge of back-up power equipment and systems, control & maintenance, and their applications.
- Good understanding of the market and customer needs.
- Knowledge of relevant IEC standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Note: This role may require entertainment from customers outside of business hours, and all sales and support staff are expected to participate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify suitable products for the local market and determine stock quantities.
- Ensure stock levels are accurate in stores.
- Identify target markets, customers, and applications aligned with company strategy, and communicate this to the sales team.
- Provide training for internal and external customers, maintain a training database, and support sales activities such as shows, demos, and presentations.
- Manage samples and demos for training and customer visits.
- Monitor competitor activities and market demands, and communicate findings to the sales team and suppliers.
- Maintain relations with suppliers regarding pricing, marketing materials, technical support, and warranty issues.
- Keep the documentation database updated with the latest files, removing outdated ones, and communicate updates regularly.
- Facilitate resolution of product issues with suppliers and share learnings with the team.
- Manage warranty claims and trends in product failures, reporting to the Product Manager.
- Coordinate product launches and relaunches in new markets or for new initiatives.
- Assist customers with technical issues remotely or on-site as a last resort, and gather data to communicate back to suppliers.
- Prepare and train the sales team on support tools for equipment sizing and selection.
- Support the sales team with technical specifications in quotes and tenders.
- Participate in weekly sales meetings to share updates and strategies.
- Hold monthly meetings with the service manager and suppliers to discuss product issues, updates, and trends.
- Ensure company products are specified at relevant projects and maintain accountability for sales targets.
