REQUIREMENTS
- Matric is essential. B-Tech or National diploma in electrical / mechanical engineering or similar qualification relevant to products and applications required to sell.
- Valid driver's license and own transport.
- Must be willing to travel and have a valid passport. Technical knowledge of back-up power equipment and systems, control & maintenance, and the application thereof.
- Good understanding of the market and access to customers. Good knowledge of all relevant IEC standards. In-depth knowledge of Microsoft packages, especially Excel.
- This job will from time to time require entertainment from customers outside of business hours, and all sales and sales support people are expected to participate.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify the right products for the local market and determine stock levels, including whether to keep local stock in specified quantities.
- Ensure stock levels are accurate in stores.
- Help identify markets, customers, and applications for sales focus aligned with company strategy, and communicate this to the sales team.
- Provide sales training for internal and external customers, maintain a training database, and support the sales team with demos, shows, and presentations.
- Develop training and working demos for shows and customer visits.
- Monitor competition activities, products, pricing, and market demands, and communicate insights to the sales team and suppliers.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers regarding pricing, marketing materials, technical support, and warranty issues.
- Create and maintain a database of the latest technical documents, ensure older files are deleted when replaced, and communicate updates regularly.
- Coordinate with suppliers on product issues, warranty claims, and product launches.
- Assist customers with technical issues telephonically, onsite, or through data collection.
- Prepare support tools and checklists for the sales team, and train them on their use.
- Assist with technical specifications for quotes and tenders, and help the sales team understand application options.
- Participate in weekly sales meetings to discuss opportunities and challenges, and coordinate with suppliers as needed.
- Hold monthly meetings with the relevant service manager and supplier to discuss product issues and warranty claims, recording minutes for ISO compliance.
- Work with relevant consultants and sales teams to specify products and meet company targets through direct and team sales.
