Job Title: Production Manager
My client, a leading manufacturer of optical products in Centurion, is looking for a Production Manager to craft and drive the strategy for growing a successful and profitable portfolio of products throughout their lifecycles. This involves understanding market needs, defining the product vision, and collaborating with engineering, sales, marketing, and technical support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.
Responsibilities
- Strategic planning:
- Conduct comprehensive market research, competitor analysis, and gather customer and market insights to drive product innovation.
- Identify and address product gaps, generate ideas to enhance market share, customer experience, and revenue growth.
- Formulate product strategy and define business requirements for new features or products aligned with company strategy.
- Develop effective product pricing and positioning strategies; oversee product development and lifecycle management.
- Translate product strategy into detailed Market and Product Requirements Documents, following AS APQP principles.
Product development:- Drive product development project kick-offs, covering requirements, assessment, and risk management; participate in review sessions.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Establish mechanisms for gathering customer feedback post-launch to inform product improvements.
- Draft specifications and create manuals for new products.
- Oversee hardware and firmware change notifications and maintain technical product information.
- Lead product rationalization and end-of-life processes.
Sales and marketing:- Support sales and marketing activities to meet or exceed revenue targets.
- Plan product releases and execute Go-To-Market strategies, including pricing, distribution, and promotions.
- Evaluate marketing plans for alignment with product strategy and messaging effectiveness.
- Develop content strategies that align with product positioning and customer needs.
- Provide sales teams with tools, training, and collateral.
- Onboard and train sales engineers on product details and applications.
- Maintain and update product manuals.
- Participate in trade shows, webinars, and events.
- Act as a product evangelist internally and externally.
Reporting:- Report on product portfolio performance, including sales, revenue, and profitability.
- Provide insights on market trends and competitor activities.
- Highlight risks and mitigation strategies related to the product portfolio.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, marketing, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in product management.
- Successful track record in launching new products and managing product lifecycle.
- Experience with AS / APQP is advantageous.
