Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: R420,000 - R540,000 per annum

The Role

As a solution-oriented Product Manager at Protect Group, you’ll support Refund Protect and Protect Plus by driving innovative, tech-enhanced solutions in various markets. Working with the Senior Product Manager, you’ll turn strategy into actionable roadmaps, conduct market research, and collaborate across teams to deliver seamless user experiences for the customers of our partners. You’ll analyse trends, identify growth opportunities, and ensure compliance, blending data-driven insights with a passion for empowering users—all with speed and agility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy & Research: Align product strategies with business goals through market trend analysis, customer feedback, and competitor research.
  • Product Operations: Track product health metrics, manage the backlog, and support Pre-Sales and go-to-market efforts with concise documentation.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear playbooks and product docs in a central hub, questioning “Why” to streamline processes.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Work with Development, Design, and UX/UI teams to align on goals and timelines, coordinating with stakeholders for input.
  • Risk & Compliance: Adopt an opportunity-driven approach—test, learn, take accountability (RACI), and ensure regulatory compliance where appropriate.

Key Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: 3+ years in product management, project management, or a related role, with a passion for building products and experience managing product or project lifecycles.
  • Agile Knowledge: Familiarity with Agile (Scrum, Kanban); experience in Agile settings is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to gather, analyse, and present data to inform decisions and spot trends.
  • Product Basics: Knowledge of product lifecycle, roadmapping, backlog management, and prioritisation.
  • Technical Acumen: Comfort collaborating with technical teams and understanding software development basics (e.g., APIs).
  • Problem-Solving & Curiosity: Skill in tackling complex challenges with practical solutions and a “Why?”-driven mindset.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Clear verbal and written skills; thrives in cross-functional teams while challenging norms.
  • Customer Focus: Passion for delivering user value and enhancing experiences.
  • Tools (Desirable): Experience with Jira, Miro, Figma, Slack, or Google Workspace is a plus.
