About the role

We are seeking a Product Manager to join our product team. The role involves planning and executing the product roadmap and translating it into user stories.

The main goal of this role is to support defining and prioritizing the product backlog to maximize value for customers and the business.

Responsibilities and key activities:

  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape.
  • Use market insights to identify opportunities and challenges, informing product decisions.
  • Develop and communicate a comprehensive product roadmap aligned with business priorities and customer needs.
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on strategic goals and market demand.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, marketing, sales, operations, finance, and customer support to ensure a unified approach to product development and delivery.
  • Define and communicate clear product requirements to development teams, ensuring shared understanding of objectives and expectations.
  • Write clear epics and user stories with acceptance criteria to specify functionality.
  • Work closely with engineering to deliver high-quality products on time and within scope.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales to ensure successful product launches and adoption.
  • Use data and analytics to monitor product performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Proactively address issues and adapt strategies to changing market conditions.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in IT or Commerce.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, or Business Analyst.
  • At least 4 years of experience working in an agile environment.
  • Deep understanding of the fintech industry.
  • Experience in Ecommerce, Payments, Banking, or Financial Services is preferred.
  • Experience working in Africa, specifically South Africa and Nigeria, and exposure to the African landscape.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Effective communication with technical teams.
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
  • Customer-centric mindset with the ability to translate needs into features.
  • Proficiency in Agile and Scrum methodologies.
