Product Engineer Position in Somerset West

A renowned Aviation Engineering company is seeking a Product Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in the Helderberg Area, Cape Town. The role offers an excellent salary, benefits, and internal career advancement opportunities.

Requirements:
  1. Tertiary education: B.Eng. or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience, including at least 3 years in project management within the manufacturing industry.
  3. Experience working in a multi-project environment with diverse customers.
  4. Ability to operate on a global level, interfacing with different cultures.
  5. Expertise in composite design and manufacturing processes (preferable).
  6. Sound knowledge of CAE software, preferably CATIA V5, Altair Hyperworks, and MasterCAM Machining.
  7. Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP systems (advantageous).
  8. Physical ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods, work in dusty and noisy environments, and handle raw materials and finished products.
  9. Willingness to travel locally and internationally for supplier and customer visits.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and support composite manufacturing processes, including tooling, technical software, process optimization, and best practices from project initiation to serial production handover.
  • Ensure products meet technical specifications and project timelines.
  • Manage engineering design and data, including resource planning, reporting, technical guidance, concept evaluation, and change management.
  • Review Engineering Change Proposals.
  • Participate in projects from Kick-off to Production Readiness Review.
  • Oversee development and qualification testing with the assistance of Testing and Certification staff.
  • Manage production verification sampling.
  • Assist with customer requests for proposals in collaboration with Sales and Program Management.
  • Provide customer liaison and on-site technical support as needed.
