Introduction
Our client operates within the fresh produce export industry, working closely with producers, packhouses and international markets. The business focuses on developing strong producer partnerships, securing quality export volumes and coordinating supply programmes to meet customer and market requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new table-grape producers and secure additional commercially viable export volumes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective producers, farm managers and packhouses.
- Conduct regular farm, vineyard and packhouse visits and perform quality inspections.
- Monitor fruit quality against customer and market specifications and identify potential quality risks.
- Maintain crop estimates and weekly supply forecasts across producers and cultivars.
- Coordinate packing programmes and monitor fruit packed against weekly orders and instructions.
- Identify potential supply shortages, surpluses and programme risks and communicate these to the commercial team.
- Assist with packing materials and operational requirements, including transport, cooling, cold storage and container loading.
Desired Experience & Qualification
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience in the table-grape export industry.
- Strong practical knowledge of table-grape production, quality, packing and export requirements.
- Experience working directly with producers and packhouses.
- Experience with crop forecasting, supply planning and weekly packing programmes.
- Good understanding of fresh produce logistics and cold-chain requirements.
- Strong commercial awareness, communication and relationship-management skills.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Established producer network and experience sourcing new producers/fruit would be highly advantageous.
- Existing relationships within the Orange River, Namibia or Western Cape regions are advantageous.
- Relevant agricultural or commercial qualification is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively.
