Primary Responsibilities

1. Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely.
2. Maintain company standards for perishables and stay up to date on all active safety procedures.
3. Ensure Health and Safety Codes, check for pricing and expiration, and maintain an organized area.
4. Check, record, and retain cooler/freezer temperatures and perform maintenance.
5. Stay current with Health and Safety standards, understanding cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
6. Verify and adjust product displays for full visibility, proper rotation, and space for high-demand items.
7. Prepare the backroom for merchandise receipt, checking quality, shortages, and code-dating.
8. Follow complex verbal instructions regarding store policies and equipment use.
9. Organize storage areas, inspect deliveries, and code-date all items.
10. Price products accurately, update systems, and supervise manual labeling.
11. Move damaged or unsalable products for return or markdown.

Supervision

Reports directly to the Produce Department Manager.

Qualifications

• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with produce in a grocery setting preferred.
• Ability to lift, twist, and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Maintain signage and care for store displays.
• Work in a variable environment with temperature and humidity changes.
