Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Procurement Officer to oversee a portfolio of strategic sourcing, contract management, and tender management functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering value through supplier performance, cost reduction, and process efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end contract management, from initiation to contract award.
  • Lead and coordinate the full tender management process including drafting, evaluation, adjudication, and awarding.
  • Present detailed procurement and performance reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct market research and develop sourcing strategies aligned with institutional objectives.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to optimize cost, quality, and service delivery.
  • Manage supplier performance and stakeholder engagement across regions.
  • Drive usage and continuous improvement of e-tender and e-procurement systems.
  • Ensure all procurement activities are compliant, auditable, and deliver measurable value.
  • Facilitate procurement forums and support internal procurement training.
  • Collaborate with internal leadership on procurement planning, reporting, and process standardization.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Management, Supply Chain, or equivalent (NQF 7+).
  • 5+ years’ procurement experience in a corporate environment.
  • Proven contract management experience from initiation to contract award (non-negotiable).
  • Full tender management experience is mandatory.
  • Experience in presenting procurement reports to stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of procurement frameworks, including Preferential Procurement Policy.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Office 365 and e-procurement tools.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within South Africa.
