Job description

Our client is looking for an experienced Engineer with strong leadership skills and a proactive mindset, eager to take on challenges and drive success. You will oversee entire factory operations, ensuring seamless workflow, optimal efficiency, and adherence to quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and modify production schedules
  • Manage staff recruitment and training
  • Implement strategic production decisions
  • Serve as the responsible appointee under General Machinery Regulation 2.1 in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993
  • Oversee GMR 2.7(a) appointees, ensuring full compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements
  • Promote and enforce occupational health and safety standards across operations
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement control measures to mitigate hazards
  • Ensure all machinery adheres to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
  • Maintain and manage statutory machinery records in accordance with legal requirements
  • Oversee risk management processes for service providers and contractors
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and implement preventative actions
  • Lead the safety committee, driving safety initiatives and compliance
  • Oversee and manage site-specific projects to ensure operational efficiency
  • Contribute to the development and execution of planned and preventative maintenance strategies to optimize plant, vehicle, and equipment performance
  • Assist in the procurement and design of machinery to meet operational and safety standards
  • Implement equipment upgrades and improvements to enhance efficiency

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency – Government Ticket (GCC) essential
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance and/or engineering
  • Proficiency in project management and total quality management principles is advantageous
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, decision-making, and motivational skills
