Job description

Main Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Purchasing of commodities, materials, and other services as required by the plant.
  2. Purchasing goods, materials, and services in line with the specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
  3. Communicate any supply problems that may affect the business, while problem-solving where possible.
  4. Ensure compliance with the company guidelines, purchasing policies, and procedures, which include but are not limited to obtaining quotes, price checks, price negotiations, raising purchase orders, expediting deliveries, and sourcing alternative suppliers.
  5. Implement and maintain support services programs and initiatives in the procurement of goods, materials, and services.
  6. Optimize systems and resources in procurement.
  7. Monitor process conditions, system conditions, and trends to improve productivity and efficiency in procurement.
  8. Liaise with relevant stakeholders such as suppliers, management, and other departments.
  9. Resolve price and invoice issues with suppliers.
  10. Prepare reports and updates as required.
  11. Implement cost-saving initiatives.
Requirements
  1. Tertiary qualification in Procurement (Degree or CIPS Level 6) or a similar equivalent qualification.
  2. Minimum NQF Level 6.
  3. 5+ years of experience in procurement, commercial, and supply chain fields involving negotiation and dealing with suppliers and customers within a manufacturing industry.
  4. Procurement experience is preferred.
  5. SAP experience is highly advantageous.
  6. Prior exposure to Tender & RFQ processes is highly advantageous.
  7. Valid South African Driver's License.
