Orion Real Estate currently has a vacancy for a Procurement Officer / Buyer to join our team.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate must be in possession of the following:
A Grade 12 qualification (or equivalent);
A qualification in Building & Construction procurement and purchasing and / or project management will be an added advantage;
Knowledge and experience of procurement and purchasing in the Building & Construction industry;
Good working knowledge and understanding of MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Word and MS Excel;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
A minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in a similar role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Procurement Officer / Buyer will be responsible for:
Purchasing and sourcing the best suppliers in terms of quality, price and payment terms for the Orion Group of Companies;
Updating and maintaining the Orion Group's Preferred Suppliers List and building amiable long-term relationships whilst ensuring best quality and price;
Identifying required materials and sufficient quantity thereof;
Ordering of all company materials and equipment;
Preparation of payment reports to Accounts Department;
Co-ordination and management of all machine and / or equipment rentals, as and when required;
Placement and co-ordination of purchase orders and ensuring payments are made accordingly;
Timeous placement of all orders;
Tracking and tracing of shipments to ensure smooth and effective transactions and that orders are received timeously;
Ensuring cost-effectiveness as well as meeting customer demands;
Negotiating favourable and suitable payment terms on behalf of Orion;
Implementation of sourcing strategies;
Researching potential vendors to ensure that Orion's Preferred Supplier list remains up to date and competitive;
Co-ordination with warehouse staff to ensure adequate and appropriate storage space for all stock and / or equipment purchasing;
Attending trade shows and exhibitions in order to stay up-to-date with industry trends and innovations;
Submission of all supplier and sub-contractor invoices to payment;
Management of the supply base;
Controlling the procurement budget and promoting a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs;
Management of company fleet fuel procurement and consumption;
Comparing prices, specifications, and delivery dates in order to determine the best bid among potential suppliers;
Special Requirements:
Must have own vehicle / transport;
Must be willing and able to travel extensively to all Orion properties, located nationally;
